As soon as I enter this small and usually crowded store, I feel like I've been teleported to some trippy alternate dimension drowning in colors. Upon my first visit, I was entirely overwhelmed and had to scout the whole place over and over again to make sure I've seen everything. I could spend hours browsing their broad selection of styles, sizes, and shapes, ranging from beautiful to downright hilarious.

From the outside, you might have a hard time guessing what unique place awaits behind Mother's doors. Barstools carved from trees, stone walls and plenty of kitsch. The first time I went there with a friend, who desperately wanted to show me the "hobbit bar", I felt like I've stepped into a giant tree house or some fantasy movie even. Mother also offers a great and affordable selection of drinks and probably one of the best Nacho plates I've ever had.

I love Tokyo for being a city of major contrasts. Streamlined megalomania meets ancient tradition; punk meets timeless elegance. Obviously, this applies to Tokyo's sense of fashion as well. You feel it when simply walking down the street or when roaming stores like Flamingo, where lots of these contrasts eventually gather. While I enjoy Flamingo's cozy living room vibe, I always feel quite like an adventurer exploring a mysterious cave.
