CHICHUKAI-UOMARU
I love this restaurant simply because it is A. delicious and B. not pretentious. I first found this restaurant walking around the neighborhood with my friends from New York. We immediately noticed the chopped heads of giant tuna fish at the storefront. At first, it looked a bit intimidating to go in but the staff there are really friendly and welcoming.

MAGIMARU2 CAFE
This café is hard to describe. It is very Alice in Wonderland without being a theme café. You enter through a tiny door, walk through a narrow kitchen/lounge area, walk up the steep stairs, and you are in this almost-crumbling room with vines that covers the outside wall creeping through the windows into the room. I love ordering a pot of herb tea and getting cozy with the cat. It is such a trippy and relaxing experience.

Tokyo is where I was born and will always be special to me. What I love about Tokyo is its apocalyptic vibe. It's as if Tokyo is preparing for the end of the world. I also like the seemingly perfect but raggedy-up-close look of the city. Take one wrong turn and you're greeted by dusty blinking neon signs, duct taped robots waving happy ending massage flags and endless steaming rows of come-and-go ramen joints.
