RUBY ROOM
The Ruby Room is a quaint spot up on a hill in Shibuya where I had my very first performance ever in Japan. I love this place because you can drop in almost any night of the week and experience some amazing live acts that range from Jazz to Metal, Hip-hop and acoustic sets. The Ruby Room is probably the most comfortable and friendly music venue I've ever visited and it is populated by a wealth of wonderful folks who just love music.

Since I was a kid I was fascinated by the far reaches of space and set my sights on a career as an astronaut even though so many people from past had doubted me because of who I was back then. I may not have chartered a rocket to the red planet, but in shooting for the stars I landed in a distant land far away from my humble beginnings. Tokyo is where I am free and growing, learning and creating.

BAR ARAKU
Tucked away among the micro-bars of varying themes in Golden Gai is Bar Araku, a place of warmth and mild reggae music where the bartenders start mixing up my usual drink when I walk in after kind greetings. Ironically, the wi-fi password "onebigfamily" is a perfect testament to the atmosphere. I always go to Bar Araku with big news about my life to share with my Golden Gai ママちゃん, Midori, who has had such a huge impact on me because she accepted me and showed me that I am as much a part of this city as anyone else who actually grew up here.
