TETRO is a team of five hairstylists, all former stylists at SHIMA, the most prestigious hairstyling corporation in Japan. Led by frontman Mahito, the five members chose to leave SHIMA early, a major taboo in the industry, to pursue a more creative and free future. Overcoming initial backlash, TETRO has found early success in the ever crowded hairstyling industry by trumping conventional forms of advertisement, using only social media to grow their brand.
This film captures each member in their element. Their collaborations with various fashion media outlets and independent brands, and the TETRO girls Aiko and Soman as they pursue hairstyling through young and upcoming models. All part of a movement to unite photographers, musicians, fashion labels, and designers together for the production of an independent magazine, music record, and release party, the beginning of what he calls “a movement to flip Shibuya on its head.”
