My name is Julia Abe I'm what most call a "hafu", My mother is Brazilian and my father is Japanese therefore I have two nationalities although I was born in Kawasaki, Japan, and have lived in Brazil for 7 years. Now I've been back in Tokyo for 6 years and my focus goes all into being true to myself and the people around me.

This is a space where I'm allowed to do anything. There are no rules, no deadlines just me, my materials and ideas. There are times when I don't feel like painting or drawing for a month but there are also times where I can't even sleep because I feel like constantly painting and the ideas only keep on coming because at my atelier I hang all of my sketches and paintings on the walls as a reminder of my improvement.

My secret little spot even thought it's a well known place for foreign faces in Tokyo. It’s a place that allows me to talk about what is bothering me (the alcohol helps a lot), but there is always a good conclusion to it all. It's the place I go to discuss and reset our goals with my boyfriend if we’re ever in doubt.
